Math-Sparks is an experiential learning program designed to expose children to the beauty of
numbers and make them comfortable working with numbers. In addition to this, children will
be engaged in activities which will improve logical thinking, reasoning, problem solving and
listening skills.
A glimpse of Learning activities:
Children usually count using fingers. In our teaching methodology children are trained to look at numbers as a function of 10’s or multiples of ten and work around it, thereby eliminating the need to use fingers. Many children know to work with numbers only vertically. Learning to do operations horizontally is important in higher grades and competitive exams – as it will save time and will help children to improve their speed and avoid silly mistakes.
E.g.: Vertical calculation 76 76 84 +84 x84 -76
Horizontal Calculation
76 + 84 76 x 84 84 – 76
What the child will experience:
The child will learn to work with numbers horizontally Or vertically
Child will understand number patterns, split numbers, simplify subtraction, learn multiplication by search and scan method and learn one line division.
Child will do puzzles - Newton crosses, Arithmogan’s triangles, magic squares etc.
Game based skill learning and brain gym exercises – figure 8’s , cross crawl, crossing the midline activities
