Math-Sparks is an experimental learning program designed to give children an exposure to the beauty of numbers and make them comfortable working with numbers. In addition to this, children will be engaged in activities which will improve logical thinking and listening skills.
A glimpse of Learning activities:
Children count using fingers. In our teaching methodology, children are trained to look at numbers as a function of 10’s or multiples of ten and work around it, thereby eliminating the need to use fingers.
Many children know to work with numbers only vertically. Learning to do operations horizontally is important in higher grades, as it will save time and will help children to improve their speed and avoid silly mistakes.
The child will learn to work with numbers horizontally.
Child will learn additional facts, subtraction facts and use the same for adding or subtracting bigger numbers using visualization technique (without pen and paper).
Child will be taught to do addition, subtraction and multiplication in increments of ten.
Child will be taught number patterns, splitting numbers, how to simplify subtraction and encouraged to learn multiplication tables (2 to 9) by search and scan method.
Child will do puzzles - Newton crosses, Arithmogan's triangles, Magic squares etc.
Game based skill learning and brain gym exercises - figure 8's, cross crawl, crossing the midline activities
